Dan (Savage) Swearingin is a CSGA 2 Assistant Ski Guide who has been guiding for 6 years. The 2017 / 2018 season will be his second full year of guiding at Eagle Pass, but he did his first shift there 2015 / 2016. Dan lives in the Slocan Valley of British Columbia, but is originally from Northern California where he started ski touring, mountaineering, and rock climbing in the mighty Sierra Nevada Mountains in 1986. He spent many years climbing big walls in Yosemite, and exploring the big mountains of the Southern Sierra in winter and summer. His hunger for adventure in wild places has lead him all over the continent from Alaska to Central America. He immigrated to Canada in 2005, and currently guides at several mechanized operations in the Kootaney’s as well as independent ski tour guiding. He is also a certified AST instructor as well as a Level 2 ski instructor certified with the CSIA. Of all the places he guides Eagle Pass is his favourite for no other reason than the incredibly diverse terrain, and the amazing quality and experience of it’s guiding staff. “This is the place to be if you want to work with the best guides in the industry”!
In the Summer months he builds custom doors and furniture, and is also an accomplished singer songwriter. During the summer months, when he’s not in his shop or playing guitar, can be found climbing rock in his local Valhalla range.
